We set up a small factory line on the island Tjärö and produced 200 chairs in the two daysleading up to the festival. Chairs seem to be the go to object to work with for a lot of designers and getting your design picked up and mass-produced is for many a dream. We turned this into a fever dream, a loving parody of the design industry and ourselves in it.

Our production became the performance. The stress and constant optimization to work fasterand more efficiently became a game we played together. When the rules of the system we set up were speed and low cost, cutting corners became achievements and everything gave way for increased efficiency.

The industrial logic of the production was contrasted with the context it took place in. The chairs were placed in a large strict grid that undulated with the smooth bed rock and oak meadows of the island. Later on, they were transformed into an arc, a symbolic passage from one stage to another.

Instead of maximizing the profit we just counted on the tired feet and backs of the festival goers to make the chairs disappear from our installation one by one.
